Actual start time of an event

    Hi,

I would like to know when the match or race has actually started.

I can see from the documentation that the Exchange API and Stream API both return the scheduled start time of the event.

But how can I determine the actual start time? I can see from the historical data that there is always a market status change at, or shortly after the scheduled start time, and this is frequently a few minutes after the scheduled start time.

How can I find the actual start time when betting?

All I can suggest is throwing a number of requests in for the market status change from the intended start. Some years back I found that UK horse racing generally starts on time, but in some countries races rarely started on time and it could be any time even as long at 15 minutes later.

It would make sense to put in more frequent requests for short-duration events, I'd expect.

    Otherwise, don't know, alas.

Thanks for the reply. That was exactly what I was going to do.

But, after looking at the documentation again, I noticed that MarketBook has a version number. When the version number changes, I get the MarketCatalgue again, and find that openDate is different. The version number change always happens at the start of the event.

I added a property to disable bets while testing this but unfortunately forgot to turn it on when I deployed, Missed a whole day's betting.

I did have a situation some years back when I had a program bring up a list of imminent football matches. One of them was on the scheduled list for days on end and never started. I can't quite recall whether its start date/time changed or not. It was from another country, but I can't remember which. Probably a hint that I needed a delete function.

Race Status API https://docs.developer.betfair.com/d...ace+Status+API works well for UK/IE horse racing, very reliable

I faced a football match schedule a few years back. One of them never started on time. Not sure whether the start date and time changed. Its country of origin is unknown. Perhaps the lack of a delete function was a hint.
