    Access to Streaming API

    Hi,

Anyone know how I contact BF to request access to the streaming API for the purposes of exploring the service to determine if a potential new product is feasible.

I work for a licensed betting operator so if the solution is viable we will definitely be seeking a formal commercial relationship with BF.

At this point though all I want is to explore the API, see the sort of updates rates we can expect, payload sizes etc. Maybe build a very light weight POC to prove basic technical feasibility etc.

I'd rather not wait for the commercials to be sort to start this.

Does anyone know if I can get access to the streaming API for research as part of a commercial solution ahead of getting the formal commercial license arranged, and if so how?

I've tried raising a ticket via the web site, but I just keep getting an error every time I submit. I've tried ringing customer support but they direct me to the (broken) web form.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Simon.

I use the web form to make contact with the BDP team on a regular basis and I have never had a problem with its use.

What problem do you get when you try to use the web form?

I get an error at the bottom every time I try and submit:

      "Something went wrong. Try Again."

        How bizarre!

Have you tried using a different browser?

            Unfortunately that email address is:

"The bdp@betfair.com e-mail address is no longer in use.

Please direct any Developer Support queries via the provided SUBMIT A TICKET form which is available via https://developer.betfair.com/support/"

If that support web form is broken you really are screwed trying to get support it appears. Even the telephone support and online chat support people just direct API queries to that same page.

Good news is the spurious error I was getting on that page appears to have been resolved so i have been able to submit my request i that way.

Gods know how BF expect you to report errors with the support web form though?!?

            Thanks for your assistance.

            Simon.

I think you need to meet a number of criteria to get access to the streaming API, all of which I don't know as I also do not have access to it yet, however:-

              1) Your account needs to be funded.
              2) Your account needs to be active (i.e. you're placing bets that are matched).
              3) You have created your application using the NON-streaming API using the DELAY-ed key.

              Note(s):-
              1) I am not writing an app for the general public, just for me (i.e. so what you have to do could be different).
              2) You want to write something for a licenced betting operator - I'd have thought you'd have potential conflict of interest with Betfair there, sounds like you need to establish the ground with Betfair first.

Once all of the above are OK I *think* this is what you do next, I don't know as I am still developing:-

              1) Have your account already funded to more than the £299 fee.
              2) Still be actively betting.
              3) Apply for activation of your live non-streamed key and at the same time ask for streaming access. Then you get to re-write bits of your application to deal with streaming, no idea how big a deal that is.

I am guessing for those last few points but hopefully they're about right.
