    placeBets/placeOrders route for international users

    Dear All,

in the past, all the API bet placements were sent from the Betfair server in London to Malta back and forth for all non-UK residents. At least to my knowledge. I read that this restriction for international users has been eliminated, but never seen a confirmation for that. It also seems from the traceroute responses to api.betfair.com that the main Betfair servers were relocated to Dublin.

I am running my bots on a VPS in London and have an average response time of ~25-30 ms. However when I place a placeBets or placeOrders request, the response time is usually over 100 ms which suggests that the Malta round trip is still in effect.

Is there someone here (maybe from Betfair) who could confirm whether the international users still suffer from this additional delay and whether the same applies for both the old and the new API?

There used to be a page somewhere at bdp.betfair.com describing this, but the link does not work anymore. I would also be very interested in hearing from someone at Betfair who could confirm if this extra delay still applies to international users.

      Hi,

We can confirm that all bets (UK & international) are routed via the same data center, so are not subject to the previous additional delay due to the round trip between London & Malta.

      Thanks

      Neil

        Dear Neil,

thank you very much for your quick response, it really helped.

So I guess the longer response time for the placeBets/placeOrders requests are only due to some internal processing. It is good to hear that all customers can play by the same rules.
