    Adition to runner Metadata

For Horse Racing, I would like to see two additional values added to Metadata.

1: The total prize money won by the runner for their entire career
2: The total number of race starts they have had in their career.

Die hard horse racing punters will know where I'm going with this, if you divide total prize money by their number of starts the result is referred to as the runners "Average Prize Money Index" or API.. Runners with an API above the average for the field generally win more races than those with lower than average API's

The two values, Prize Money and Career Starts should be available in the same source of data used for the Metadata now, so adding two more fields in the metadata shouldn't be a big problem.

    Thanks Team.

You need to purchase a timeform subscription, I doubt betfair will add anything else for free.

You can get horse win statistics from racingpost, number of run races by race type, and horse winner, or position 1,2,3. So you can calculate similar value.

Thanks Liam, I don't like paying for stuff when I'm still testing theories, but I'll look into timeform as you suggest. Shame that BF can't add two more fields, wouldn't be that hard, really.

Thanks bfExplorer, I'll look into Racing Post, I'm still feeling my way with UK racing. In Oz I can get anything I want easily, but I'm not familiar with the UK scene. Learning experience ahead, thanks.

If I managed to program it, then I am sure anyone else could do it as well.

Here is short video showing what data you can get:

Thanks bfExplorer, I'll look into that.. I'd need to collect the data on all runners and store it in a database for reference when my program runs. Thanks for that

                Hi

That Racing Post API looks interesting, thanks for heads up, I wasnt aware of that.
Their website has lots of marketing gumph, I couldnt easily spot the 2 items of info i was looking for.

                1) What is the pricing details on using this API ?
                2) Is there a link somewhere to the technical Spec. ?

                Thanks

Geof, we are here developers, so what I showed is just sample of data that could be parsed from whatever web site, offering relevant informations. I did not mention, how I parsed that data, and whether web site has some kind of api or not.

I already mentioned in another post, that using undocumented api, or parsing web page data breaches general T&C of any web site, so it is up to you if you use that just for your personal use or not.

Like Oz, answered as well, I just provided info, that it could be done, and what data are there.

Yes, such libraries could be included in my bot sdk, but it is on personal base only, as racingpost provider was used in one bespoke app I built for my user, and I am not used to offer for free something others paid for.

                    Hello BfExplorer

Sorry maybe you misunderstood my question. I have no interest in what your App does or doesnt do, that is entirely up to you.

I was interested in this page specifically, https://b2b.racingpost.com/racing-post-api/ they are specifically advertising their own API. Curiously there is no mention of product costs to use the API. Obviously as they dont mention prices, it is very likely expensive to sign up to. Also the lack of Spec means it is very likely commercial and pricey.

I was just asking if anyone knew their pricing info for that API?

                    Regards

Timeform api starts from 500 GBP per month, so racing post should have similar prices, as both companies compete for customers.

Here no one pays such amounts, mainly when what could be taken from data is questionable when building betting or trading model.

They do not offer trail, so it is not affordable for us.

Eeek, I didnt expect it to be that expensive.

I think that the RacingPost API is mainly aimed at Professional Organizations like Bookmakers and Pricing Services, not the little hobby punter..
