US Racing - Race Number Removal From Market Name - w/c 12th May

    Hi,

Please be aware that from w/c 12th May, for operational reasons, we'll be removing the race number (e.g. R1, R2, R3 etc.) from the market name of US horse racing events returned via the Betfair API & website.

Races rarely start on time in the US as there are significant delays or races that start well ahead of time. Removing race numbers would be disastrous for liquidity. It would be a headache for all punters.

On top of this, the culture in US horse racing is to refer to races by their race number (Race 1, Race 2 etc). Watching race streams, I listen to commentators and analysts refer to their selections by race number as is the status quo. The proposed change would lead to confusion and disinterest, especially when certain racetracks run signature meetings with 14 scheduled races. I know in the UK, people refer to races by their post time, but that is just not the reality in the US.

    Please reconsider your decision.

Following a further review, this change has been postponed until further notice.

If we decide to proceed with the change, we'll provide further updates on this thread.
