    Hedge at the off?

    Hi

First post, simple question, apologies if asked before.

If i have a current back bet of £10 at odds of 5, is it possible to lay this and hedge across all selections at the off (BSP)?

    Thanks

    Hiya

I am not sure if you are asking is it possible to place a BSP bet after the market has gone in play ? If that was your question, then the answer is no you cant.

Or were you asking how do you calculate the stake you need to hedge the selection ?

Thanks Geoff, only just seen your reply.

I was looking to hedge a bet at the off. So if i'd placed a back bet before post time, i was hoping to hedge it at the off with BSP. However, after a lot of thought (i'm new to the API), i don't think it is possible!

I've since moved on from that but now i have a dilemma with hedging in a fast moving market. In summary, I know the calculation to hedge but what happens if it doesn't get completely matched, how do you calculate the remainder and close out? Or is it a case of calculating the hedge value and then post fill or kill requests until it gets matched?

      Thanks again.

        Hi

Before the off you dont know what the exact SP is going to be, but the API does tell you the "near SP Price" which is an estimate as to what the final SP will be (how close it is in practice to the final SP I am not sure). You could use that to calculate what your hedging SP bet stake needs to be. This would need to be placed a few seconds before the market start time, or you risk the market starting and then your SP hedge bet would be rejected totally as not a valid bet.
