    Number of Calls

    Hi,
I realise this is an open ended question, but what would be everyone's opinion on calling ListMarketBook.

In the old API6 days (I came to this late but) the free version would stop you calling it ([Throttle_Limited_Exceeded] I think) if you were hitting the API too hard.

Is there such a stop in API_NG?

So how often are people calling for the prices?? every second, every five or even lower as every 100th.

I imagine, it depends on the event (So i'll say dogs and nags) and maybe a lot of factors but I'm generally just getting a feel for what is acceptable/appropriate in terms of hitting the servers.

    Thanks

    Tony

As I understand it, the API is free and unlimited until january 2015. After that, there'll still be a free version but I imagine the request throttling might get re-introduced.

I've got no real feel for how often it's wise to ask for prices so can't answer your question exactly. I got kicked off once for getting prices 'too often' even though I was within the throttle limits! The new API does allow you to ask for prices in multiple markets in a single request up to a limit. So depending on what data you need it's possible you actually need fewer requests than before.

Can't speak for anyone else but I don't like the prospect of racking up charges so mechanisms on my side of the fence to limit API usage are called for.

If the terms of API usage change such that it becomes unprofitable to run a bot due to charges then the solution to that problem is simple.
