Best prices to lay ignores best price

When I get lay prices using GetMarket I often find that there is a price available with £2 to lay which is not returned in the query but which shows on the betfair platform. Is this some sort of market making activity by betfair?

They are probably virtual bets from betfair's cross-matching algorithm. You appear to be using API6 which will be deprecated after November 1st, 2014. You will need to adopt the new API-NG.

Yes I see. It seems that they are most often for £2. I guess that that is because £2 is the lowest stake that betfair allows so small virtual bets are rounded up (presumably betfair provides the liquidity to make it up).

I will adopt the new API-NG but intend to leave it until the last minute. I might have had enough of this by then.
