Market Catalog Market Name contains wierd info ?

Hi I have a bit of a problem with Market Catalog marketname. Normally when I call the Australia Endpoint no worries, however this problem is occurring when I call the UK endpoint.

Some races are showing up with the race number and others are not. Here is an example which can also be seen in my snapshot of my betting app:

12:48 AM Monmore A2 480m
12:50 AM Plumpton 3m2f Hcap cls
Note: 12:48 AM is my local time in Aus for UK race start.


The greyhound race shows Race 2 (ie A2) BUT the plumpton race should be Race 4 and I can't see where it states that. The 3m2f I understand. Is the Race 4 data buried somewhere else ? I have looked in MARKET_DESCRIPTION and RUNNER_METADATA. PS. I note that in Betfair it contains the data below ???

A2 is NOT the race number - it is the class of the greyhound race.

No UK greyhound races or horse races show a race number (as this is not traditionally used in the UK).

Thanks betdynamics, it was late last night and it just so happened that Race 2 was the class A2 which confused me.

My question still remains however, that Betfair themselves must know the race number as they displayed it on their website

I was using the Race number (with other data) to scrape odds from another betting site so that I could compare odds and take the best odds available.

Hmmmm maybe I will need to just use the Race Event Name together with the first Runner name OR race distance to scrape ... somehow.
