    Pricing

So far my venture into the new API has been quite successful. I have found it much easier to use and to create apps/bots.

Before I start porting all my existing software to this new API, my question is how much will this cost after November?

Will the pricing be the same, more, less or different.

Is there a link to the new pricing structure?

I've just been looking for an answer to this. I made some programs years back and was about to start a new one, but now I'm not sure if there's going to be a free access API still? Anyone know the answer to this or can point us in the right direction?

      news?

I am also in the process to convert some software to the new API.
I have done some experiments and I like it, I prefer it to the the old one but I would like to know as soon as possible about pricing, requests limit, throttled services, etc.

      At this URL: https://bdp.betfair.com/index.php?op...d=289&Itemid=1 )
      betfair writes:

"We therefore recommend that any new API development is done using API-NG. API-NG will continue to be available on a free trial basis until the 30th April 2014 at which point we will provide a further update."

It is in only two months, so I guess the main pricing idea is already set and maybe only the details need to be adjusted.

Could we know more? Can anybody give us any heads up?

i think its there's monopoly, they can charge whatever they want as we have to pay .
We have to update our whole system and still no idea what would pricing be.

We do not have to pay. We are free to quit :-)

Although Betfair has signs of monopoly, they are not evil. When monopoly tries to maximize profit, they do not set prices high, they behave different way. They make different prices for different customers, they apply price discrimination strategy.

There are many kind of developers, the entry level developers, low frequency traders or slow sports traders may be happy with free version of the API. The high frequency traders or traders who trade with high-end software almost certainly will be charged.

I think reasonable approach should win and Betfair will provide multiple tiers of API-NG for different customers

Thx for the link. The time to worry is if the tax man wakes up to the free money people make from automated betting.

It would be really good if we could get a bit more detail on this stuff...

I've currently got an iPad app on the app store that uses the Free Access API - and what I really need to know is if I'm going to be able to continue to offer the same functionality on the new API (free version).

I can't realistically keep selling the existing app if I know it will stop working in November (when the old API is turned off), unless I can be sure that the new (free) API gives me the same functionality.

(There's a time dependence here - I'd like to know this info asap so I can either start changing to the new api, or remove my app).

                  Hope that makes sense.
