    API-NG Charges and Free/Paid info

    Hi guys,

Do you have any more info regarding the pricing structure of API-NG?

It's fast approaching the end of the month and even some basic info on what the new pricing structure will be would be most appreciated.

Also any info on the planned free API limitations would be great (or indeed if there will be a free API).

As I said any info at all would be most useful.

    Cheers

      Hi,

The Free API will be available for the forseeable future, we don't have any plans to retire the current version of the API within the next 12 months.

The intention is to offer a more generous free API version via API-NG, alongside a subscription version. However, the final details are being finalised.

      I hope this helps.

      Thanks

      Neil

        Keep the old API

Is it not possible to keep the old API as well. We all wrote app's with the understanding that the API shields us from changes but this is not the case with us having to do complete rewrites for features that some of us dont really need

            Hi Neil,

Just to be sure: there will be a free version of the API-NG ?

Because in the documentation, they said "Extended free trial period - access to API-NG is free of charge to all developers until 1st November 2013.", which is not clear.

            Regards,

            Mect0n

              ^Please reply to above question^

I want to learn to use the API. It would seem sensible to learn API-NG. But while there is the threat of stopping free API-NG use in November (while free old API use continues) I don't know what to do.

                Hi,

Yes, I can confirm there will be a free version of API-NG available.

                Thanks

Thank you Betfair, I think you ought to put this info on the main API-ING info page so it is clear that the end of the free API-ING trial that is mentioned isn't as scary as it sounds. I like to be a late adopter so welcome the commitment to keep the old API running for 12 months + (18 month + on another thread). For individuals who invest a lot of time on interfacing with Betfair, a free option is essential, the only other realistic option being to quit / jump ship.
