How to place a bet on different place markets

I have been using the api for some time now and searched the docs high and low but have never been able to work out how to bet on the different place markets available.
ie. Horse racing markets - how do I retrieve/bet on a 2 places market or a 3 places market or a 4 places market etc ?
it only seems possible to bet on a Win market or a Places market but I have no idea how many places the Place market refers to.
I can't understand why this has not been made clear in the docs.
Anyone have any ideas would be much appreciated thanks.

For each market in an event, there will be a marketCatalogue. Part of the data in the marketCatalogue includes the market description. The market description includes the market type. You need to find out what the market types are for your different place markets. I suggest you arrange to do a call that either gets you all the market types, using the listMarketType call, or perhaps just get the ones specific to horse racing. It should be fairly obvious which ones you need.

When you are gathering the data for a particular horse race, get the relevant marketCatalogues and the related marketBooks, and that should give you all you need for betting in multiple place markets.
