eing under bet Consistantly

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this problem:

When I place a back bet at the ruling LAY price almost immediately there is another bet placed for a smaller amount exactly one price step below my bet.

For example if the ruling lay price is $4.00 and I put a back bet at that price another lay bet will appear at $3.95

Regardless of the price I select the "phantom" bet always appears just one price step below.

It has been happening consistently for months almost as though I have a "ghost" tracker..

Anybody else have this problem ??

Not sure there has been a time when this has never happened, its very competitive nowadays as well but they do make mistakes.

It can be simply cross matching bet if market supports such cross matching.

Or other trader just uses automated bot, for instance like mine:

"Be the first in queue"

Thanks Liam, It surely must be a bot but am I the only person seeing this? The bot must be tracking every bet placed, which surly would end in a loss.

I know a few who market make like this and they do very well, streaming has made this possible.

I fail to see how under cutting every bet placed results in a profit, I can see that being one price step below others would get the bet matched first, but if I don't place a bet I don't see any activity, it's only when I place a bet the under cutting bet gets placed..

Surely they can't be doing this to every bet placed so why am I seeing it?

You are the trigger for their bet, they obviously have other variables at play but they are just waiting, you don’t seem to want to believe me but they are playing the numbers game and at a large scale it does work (not as well as it used to)

Oh, I do believe you Liam, I just don't see why they'd make money following every bet placed by everyone, must be a massive operation..

Certainly, if they can make money out of my bets, could they please pass me the secret. It would help me a lot (HaHa)

It could be bookies doing it. If that's the case, their profit is not being made on Betfair, but on their own systems with Betfair is just being used to partially offset their liabilities.
