How can I get team unique id of one team in soccer match

I want to get unique team id of one team in soccer match so I can find the same match in my database. Now I can only get team name such as Juventus v Cagliari. It's hard to find the same team from our own database for various name translations or different abbreviations. So is there an unique team id?

What's a "variable name translations"? Juventus has been the same since 1897.

Juventus is the same .
But some low level league team has different name every year.
Some team such as Kfco Beerschot Wilrijk in Belgium Serie B often has different abbreviation in different platform.
