    Cancelling bets when Market Suspended

Got a question regarding canceling of bets: I assumed that one can cancel bets while their corresponding market is suspended (otherwise one needs to send cancel requests constantly in order not to miss market "unsuspension"), but I have got an error message after cancel request containing:

    'status': 'FAILURE', 'errorCode': 'MARKET_SUSPENDED'

so it seems bet was not canceled due to market suspension.

Can somebody please explain to me if one can actually cancel bets while the market is suspended and, if not, what is the best way to go about that?

    Thanks a lot!

You cannot Cancel, Place or Update bets when the market is suspended.

        Hello,
Can we receive an update from Betfair (through API), as when a market is suspended (usually because a runner is removed), odds move drastically and some bets get executed at former odds that are not a fair price any more.

There is an attribute Version on MarketBook which, the documentation says, increments whenever the market status changes. The PlaceOrder transaction can take this as an input to prevent the bet being placed if there has been a status change.

Market version will only work on a place request during execution, it will not cancel a live order during market suspension, depending on the suspension type I am fairly sure setting the persistence to LAPSE will result in the order being cancelled.

Markets are suspended for a variety of reasons. In football, for example, if a goal has been scored it may well mean a market result has been reached, and the entire markets need to be sorted out, with many bets failing, some succeeding, and many being cancelled as irrelevant. But odds do not move at all during suspension, and any bets that get executed happen at the odds present when the market became suspended. After the suspension is lifted, then odds may move.
