    Dead heat rule - Blackjack

Could someone clarify the dead heat rule in Blackjack for me?

I understand that that when the dealer ties with one or more of the players, the odds of any bets are halved.

    Example:

Players 1 to 3 have all bust. Player 4 has a points total of 20, but so does Dealer. So dealer wins overall and player 4 ties.

If I laid player 4, I'm calculating my liability as ((price/2)-1)*stake. Is that correct?

I'm also not clear on whether the odds of any bets on the dealer (i.e. "Dealer wins or ties all") are also halved. If I laid the dealer as well in the example above, would the odds on that bet also be halved or is it just a straight win for the dealer?
